Sexual Assault Reported in Encinitas Park

A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted while walking her dog in an Encinitas park Thursday morning, the Sheriff's Department said.

The victim told deputies she was walking through Cottonwood Creek Park on Encinitas Blvd. at about 8 a.m. when a man emerged from the bushes and attempted to assault her.

The victim was able to escape and called 911 to give a description of her attacker.

Deputies began a ground and helicopter search of the suspect. They found a man in the north side of the park who matched the victim's description.

Kori Adam Prince, 29, was accused of the attack. He was arrested for sexual battery and indecent exposure. Prince was booked into county jail shortly after.
