Woman Robbed at Gunpoint in Macy's Parking Lot

The incident happened at Grossmont Center Mall

Three male suspects robbed a woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Macy’s store in La Mesa Sunday, police confirmed.

According to authorities, the woman was walking south in the Macy’s parking lot at Grossmont Center Mall around 12:45 p.m. when a vehicle occupied by three black males slowly drove along the side of her.

Police said the front passenger reached out of the car and grabbed the woman’s purse as she walked. The victim didn’t let go of her handbag, and a struggle for the bag ensued.

The passenger then pointed a black handgun at the woman, police said.

She released her purse and the suspects drove away from the parking lot.

Police said the woman sustained minor injuries to her arm, including some slight bruising from the struggle with the suspect for her purse. She declined medical treatment at the scene.

Officers scoured the area for the suspects but were unable to immediately locate them.

Police said the main suspect who pointed the gun is described as a black male, 20 to 25 years old, with cornrows. He was wearing a black shirt.

The other men in the car are also described as 20 to 25-year-old black males. They were driving a white, four-door, late-model Nissan Sentra.

The investigation is ongoing and police encourage anyone with information on the robbery to contact the La Mesa Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
