Authorities say a San Diego woman was killed when she lost control of a snowmobile in the eastern Sierra and slammed into a tree.
Patricia Warren was pronounced dead at the scene of the Wednesday afternoon accident in the Blue Lakes snowpark in Alpine County.
Another passenger who was riding on the back of the Arctic Cat snowmobile was flown to a Reno, Nev., hospital, where she was treated and released.
Alpine County sheriff's Sgt. Ron Michitarian says the accident happened about 12 miles off the Blue Lakes access road near Woodfords. Emergency personnel used snowmobiles and snow cat to reach the victims.
