Woman Assaulted, Left Unconscious in Grantville Apartment

Police searching for suspect in attempted homicide

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect who reportedly beat and left a woman unconscious in her Grantville apartment last month.

On May 13, officers responded to a call that a 34-year-old woman was found unconscious in her apartment, according to a press release from the San Diego Police Department.

Detectives now believe the victim, who remained unconscious for three weeks and suffered brain damage, met with a man moments before the attack at McGregor's Bar and Grill on San Diego Mission Rd. Detectives say the man is a person of interest in the investigation.

The man is described as a 21- to 24-year-old man, about 5'10'' with a thin build. He has tattoos on both arms and a tattoo of a sparrow on the left side of his chest.

The man in the photo (right) was one of the last men seen with the victim before the assault. She had the photos on her camera, taken between when she met him at McGregor's and when she was attacked. However, police say they can't be sure if the man she met is in the pictures.

Anyone with information about this case or the identity of the male is encouraged to call Eastern Division Detective Laura Zizzo at (858) 495-7942 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
