When Power Goes Out, So Do Traffic Lights

An outage that left about 4,600 customers without power in the South Bay may have contributed to a traffic accident.

Customers in Chula Vista and Bonita lost power Thursday morning because of a problem with an overhead electrical system.

Businesses had to close and some traffic lights were out, including one on E Street in Chula Vista. When a driver went to turn at the intersection, she says another driver hit her.

"It happened so fast that, but she hit me so hard. It was like how could you be going that fast if you made a complete stop? It just doesn't make sense,” said victim Leticia Sanchez.

The power was back on by Thursday afternoon.
