Gas Station Argument Between 2 Men Ends in Shooting in Webster

Police said Darik Tesera, 27, shot another man after an argument at a gas station on Home Avenue, and also shot himself in the leg

An argument between two men early Friday in San Diego’s Webster neighborhood ended in shots being fired, police said.

Just before 2:30 a.m., the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) received a call from a man named Darik Tesera, 27, reporting he had been shot in the leg at Fairmount and Home avenues.

When officers arrived, they discovered Tesera had gotten into an argument with another man at an AM/PM convenience store at a gas station at 4333 Home Ave. During the fight, Tesera allegedly fired multiple shots at the other man, and also shot himself in the leg, the SDPD said.

The victim was discovered by police lying on the ground on the south side of the street, bleeding from gunshot wounds. He was conscious, police said.

Both Tesera and the shooting victim were taken to local hospitals. They are both expected to recover from their wounds.

The investigation is ongoing. Police did not immediately release additional details.

Officers remained at the scene on Home Avenue Friday morning, collecting evidence, as the crime scene spanned a large area over two sections of the street – the spot where the victim was found and the gas station where Tesera was found.

Police cars also blocked parts of the northbound Interstate 805 ramp as the investigation pressed on. Investigators planned to stay on Home Avenue for several hours.
