Water Pipe Break Affects Rolando Service

Depending the size of the break, water service may restored in 16 hours

Water service was interrupted for customers in the Rolando area after a pipe broke, sending water into the streets.

The break happened at El Cajon Boulevard and Filipo Street around 5 a.m. Monday.

The San Diego Water Department sent crews to investigate. It’s unknown if a 16-inch water main broke or if the break happened on a two-inch service line.

For water crews and customers, the size of the pipe will determine when water service can be restored.

Right now, water customers along El Cajon Boulevard between Art Street and Seminole Drive are affected. Officials are testing service lines to determine the cause of the problem.
