Main Break Leaves OB Residents Without Water

A water main break in Ocean Beach left some residents without water service Saturday.

According to Arian Collins, supervising public information officer for the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department, a 6-inch, cast iron water main broke around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of Del Monte Avenue and Froude Street in OB.

At the onset of the break, water burst onto the street and could be seen running down the neighborhood.

The break left residents in the 4500-block of Del Monte Avenue and the 1700-block of Froude Street without water service. Crews are currently working to repair the break and water service is expected to be restored to residents by 2 p.m., Collins said.

Meanwhile, police said the repairs might take all day. Officers will be on scene directing traffic while crews work in the area. As of 7 a.m., there were no road closures in effect.
