Water Main Breaks on Morena Blvd.

Several surrounding blocks were left without water early Sunday morning

A water main break on the 1500 block of Morena Blvd. early Sunday morning left many residents without water.

According to police, the water main break occurred around 5:40 a.m., though it is unknown exactly how it happened. Upon arriving, police set up barricades around the area.

The San Diego Water Department confirmed it was a 16-inch cast iron main break, and that four blocks in the surrounding area were without water. Water Department officials said the water will likely be shut off for most of Sunday so they can repair the large break.

NBC 7 San Diego’s crews were at the scene and noticed an interesting sidebar to this story.

A man who was trying to get gas in the area drove around the police barricades and ended up getting his car stuck in the big hole leading to the water main break.
