Crews were still working Wednesday afternoon to repair a water main break in Escondido that happened the day before.
The extensive excavation of the break has reduced El Norte Parkway and Valley Parkway to one lane in both directions. The lane wasn't expected to be reopened until mid-day Thursday.
Crews are advising drivers to avoid the area, especially during rush hour.
Firefighters have unlocked the gates at Hidden Trails to alleviate traffic congestion for residents living there.
