Water Main Break Floods Mission Valley

Sig Alert issued near Hotel Circle

A broken water valve near Hotel Circle caused flooding and traffic delays Wednesday morning.

The water pressure valve on 600 Hotel Circle South broke just before 9 a.m., police said.

The street became flooded and a SigAlert was issued in the surrounding area. Water authorities turned off water in the area and at least two hotels and businesses are without water.

Debris and mud filled the streets and hotel property.

Bachmann Place and the Interstate 8 off-ramp were closed following the break.

The 8-inch line connects to a 30-inch main. It broke as SDG&E crews were performing work on it. Water authorities do not know yet when they will complete the repairs necessary and restore service.

Officials said restoration time to the area has yet to be determined.
