A 24-year-old Vista man died in a crash involving two other motorcyclists Saturday afternoon in Carlsbad, police said.
The crash happened shortly after noon in the 6500 block of northbound Carlsbad Boulevard near North Ponto Beach, Carlsbad police Lt. Christie Calderwood said.
When officers arrived, they found three motorcycles with extensive damage and their riders lying on the road with serious injuries.
All three riders — a 21-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 49-year-old man — were transported to area hospitals where one died, Calderwood said.
All three were from Vista.
The cause of the crash was under investigation. Northbound Carlsbad Boulevard was closed from Breakwater Road to Solamar Drive for the investigation, Calderwood said.
It was unclear when the road will reopen, but "it should be soon," she said.
