A man killed in a stabbing in his apartment in the 100 block of Hill Drive Sunday morning has been identified, the San Diego Sheriff's Department confirmed.

Neighbors followed a trail of blood to an open apartment door where they found Victor Canseco, 21, face down on the floor with multiple stab wounds around 4 a.m. He was pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived.

"It’s unusual to find such a violent crime," SDSO Lt. Rich Williams said.

Canseco’s roommate, Sergio Orozco, 26, crashed his car a few blocks away on Grapevine Road around the same time. He was arrested for murder following a foot chase and is being held at the Vista Detention Facility without bail.
