Woman Assaulted at Vista Apartment's Community Pool

A man was arrested Tuesday night after assaulting a woman in the restroom at a Vista apartment complex's community pool, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said. 

Nathan Cavness, 58, was arrested on charges of assault to commit rape, assault likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment, domestic battery with injury and robbery charges at about 6 p.m. Tuesday. 

The woman told first responders that she was assaulted while inside the pool restroom of the Mesa Garden Apartment Homes on Bobier Drive near E. Vista Way, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said. 

She was injured in the attack and transported to Tri-City Medical Center for treatment.

At the scene, Cavness was located attempting to flee the area on foot, SDSO said. He was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. 

The sheriff's department said the two people involved "had a prior dating relationship" but did not specify further.
