Undercover Cops Bought Cocaine at Encinitas Bar

Liquor license suspended at Bar Leucadian

The liquor license of one Encinitas bar will be suspended after undercover investigators were able to buy cocaine off employees inside the bar.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the investigators purchased the illegal drug at the Bar Leucadian on N. Coast Highway on four separate occasions.

Both employees and patrons were involved in the sales.

The investigators were tipped off to the potential drug activity after officials at the Encinitas Sheriff's Station received a complaint.

For four months, the investigators visited the bar and successfully attempted to buy the cocaine. The investigation was funded by the state's Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

As a result of the cocaine sales, the bar will not be able to sell liquor for 25 days, beginning Monday July 2 at 11:30 a.m.

The owner of the bar will also comply with other conditions of the license, which restricts live entertainment and the bar's hours of operation.
