USC Helps Military School Children

The program is aimed at helping kids whose parents are deployed

USC is partnering with eight San Diego-area school districts to help the children of military service members.

It will monitor the challenges faced by children whose parents are deployed.

Officials hope to use data to help schools intervene when the children are struggling.

Some of the districts participating include:  Fallbrook Union Elementary, Chula Vista Elementary, Escondido Union High School, and Oceanside School District.

The four-year project will reach an estimated 100,000 children in 149 schools across the county.
