The magazine rates schools based on their contribution to the public good in three separate categories, social mobility, research, and service.
This is the second time UCSD has been recognized by the magazine as the nation's top rated university.
βItβs an honor for UC San Diego to be recognized again for our tradition of service to the community and the nation,β said Chancellor Marye Anne Fox in a news release. βWe are rightfully proud that the spirit of civic engagement and the principle of βgiving backβ serve as the foundation of our greatest achievements.β
UC Los Angeles, UC Berkeley, Stanford, and Harvard round out the top five universities on the list.
