UC San Diego Student Groped While Jogging Near Campus

The attack happened on the southwest corner of the main campus near La Jolla Village Drive and La Jolla Scenic Drive, according to campus police

A San Diego-area college student was jogging near campus when a man came up behind her and sexually assaulted her, according to campus police.

The UC San Diego student contacted campus police to report the incident that happened near La Jolla Village Drive and La Jolla Scenic Drive around 10 p.m.

She told police she was jogging when a man ran up behind her and groped her.

The suspect was described as a medium build Hispanic male, in his late 20s, approximately 5-foot 5-inches tall, wearing a black short sleeve T-shirt and red basketball style shorts.

Campus police sent a warning out to all students to be aware of their surroundings and to take advantage the university’s Safety Escort Program, (858) 534-WALK.

The university also offers self-defense classes for women through the UCSD R.A.D. Program.
