Two Innocent Drivers Killed in Hit & Run: CHP

Someone knows what happened on a local highway Thursday night that sent a moving truck over the center divide and into the path of another car going the opposite direction. Now, officers want that person to come forward.

The Ryder moving truck was driving westbound on I-8 at El Cajon Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. Thursday in La Mesa.

Witnesses say a dark red car cut off the truck, sending it out of control until it landed right on top of a Chevy Silverado.

The 31-driver of the Silverado from El Cajon died upon impact. The driver of the truck was thrown from the truck and killed, according to the medical examiner. He was a 32-year old La Mesa resident.

The driver who caused the accident faces hit and run charges and possibly manslaughter charges according to California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Pennings.

The names of the victims have not been released.
