Twitter-related site says it's gotten millions of hit since April launch

Locally based has logged millions of page views on its Web site since it went public in April and is attracts high-profile users like Britney Spears, according to a published report.

By operating on a virtual company model, the new Twitter-based photosharing service TweetPhoto keeps its costs low, reports the North County Times. The company has been self-funded so far, say founders Rodney Rumford, of San Diego, and Sean Callahan, of Encinitas. It's a lean company, with a staff of five.

Companies such as TweetPhoto hope to make money by adding additional services to Twitter. As its name implies, photos are the centerpiece for TweetPhoto, which lets people easily add photo links to their Twitter posts. It's positioning itself as a more full-featured service than its main competitor, Twitpic.

TweetPhoto lets users leave comments and connect around shared interests, similar to a social networking site such as Facebook or MySpace. Users also have the option to "geocode" the photo's location, and to tag the photos by topic.
