Turkey Hunt Approved by San Diego County

Teens are going turkey hunting

San Diego County has approved a turkey hunt for youngsters at a preserve despite complaints from animal rights activists.

The Board of Supervisors on Wednesday gave final approval to holding a two-day shoot this year at the Santa Ysabel East Open Space Preserve.

The 3,800-acre preserve is larger and less-used than the county park near Julian where the hunt was held last year.

The hunt would be limited to 20 hunters under the age of 18.

Critics say the hunt would set a bad precedent and they may seek a court injunction to prevent it.
