Truck Plows Through Mira Mesa Home

A truck slammed into a Mira Mesa home early Wednesday, tearing through two walls before stopping in the kitchen.

The homeowner was awakened around 2 a.m. by what he described as someone bulldozing his home.

A pick-up truck showed no signs that it slowed down as it smashed into the single story home on the corner of Arrow Rock Avenue and Gold Coast Drive.

The truck drove through an exterior wall and also took-out and interior wall in the process, destroying the living room and getting buried inside the home’s kitchen.

There were two men inside that truck. The homeowner, who was home alone, saw the passenger in the truck stumble out of the vehicle and help the driver out of the car.

The two people had cuts and bruises and appeared to be intoxicated, according to the homeowner who did not want to be identified.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

Neighbors who heard the impact came running into the street to see what happened.

β€œI was at home in my room and all of a sudden I heard a big crash,” said Christine Sehnoebelen. She said she ran out and realized that she knew the home damaged then ran back inside to call 911.

The homeowner says the driver of the pick-up was arrested.

The man who lives at the home said his wife is out-of-town visiting grandchildren. As of 5 a.m., he hadn’t called her to tell her what's happened.

He says he has insurance and the driver did also.
