Chunks of Cement Fall Onto Freeway

Traffic slowed to a crawl

A sig-alert was issued after slick roadways caused a mess on the westbound 8 and southbound 125 on Saturday morning.

Traffic was backed up after a big rig jack-knifed and hit a cement wall along the 8 freeway around 10:30 in the morning. The collision caused large chunks of cement, as big as 7 feet long, to fall onto the 125 below, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The sig-alert was issued ten minutes later at 10:40 a.m. and crews were on scene to being removing the debris. All lanes were reopened to traffic around noon.
