Beaches in Torrey Pines Contaminated

Several miles of local beaches remain closed this morning due to the sewage spills caused by last week's blackout.

A test of the Los Penasquitos Lagoon revealed high concentrations of sewage. The lagoon is just north of Torrey Pines State Beach.

The power outage caused more than 3-million gallons of raw sewage to spill into the ocean.

The closures affect areas north and south of Torrey Pines State Beach.

Areas in the South Bay also remain closed, including Bay Side Park and the Silver Strand.
