Toreros Hit Road, Beat Davidson

USD's big 2nd half runs PFL winning streak to 31 games

A year ago Davidson nearly ended USD's Pioneer Football League winning streak when the Wildcats ran for 789 yards ... but still lost a 56-52 shootout. This year the two met again on Davidson's home field.

The Toreros definitely learned their lesson.

San Diego allowed just 142 yards on the ground and pitched a 2nd half shutout in a 37-17 win to extend their PFL winning streak to 31 straight games. What was even more impressive is the Toreros allowed just 22 total yards of offense in the 4th quarter.

That's something that will put a smile on the face of head coach Dale Lindsey, who played nine years as a linebacker in the NFL and was the San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator calling plays for Junior Seau.

Davidson scored on their first three possessions to take a 17-10 lead ... then San Diego took over. Senior quarterback Reid Sinnett threw a pair of touchdown passes to senior wideout Michael Bandy, who finished with nine catches for 118 yards, to put USD up 24-17.

In the 3rd quarter Sinnett connected with sophomore tight end Dalton Kincaid, who ran 70 yards for another score. Sinnett completed 27 of 32 passes for 358 yards, five touchdowns and no turnovers.

The Toreros play another PFL game next Saturday at home against Valparaiso with a 2:00 p.m. kickoff. If they win that one they'll have taken 32 straight in the conference and 36 in a row at home.
