Six Children Involved in Three-Car Collision

Police said a car slammed into an SUV that was carrying six children

A three-car collision Thursday night at Lake Murray Boulevard and Navajo Road involved six children, among others.

According to police, the driver of a white car ran a red light at the intersection around 8 p.m., slamming into an SUV packed with children, all young enough to be in car seats.

The SUV then pushed into another car.

Police said there was serious damage to all three vehicles involved in the collision. The impact knocked the bumper off of the white car.

Most of the drivers and passengers left the scene with minor to serious bumps and bruises.

Had the white car broadsided the SUV at a different angle, this could’ve been a fatal accident, according to investigators. Police said this particular intersection is very hazardous.

Police believe the driver that ran the red light was speeding. They’re investigating if the driver was distracted either texting or talking on the phone.
