Man Shot at Mt. Hope Vigil

This marks the third shooting in the area in less than two weeks

Another shooting occurred in Mt. Hope Wednesday night in the 800 block of Morrison Street, right near the same intersection where another man was fatally gunned down Tuesday.

Police said this latest shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. About 15 people were holding a candlelight vigil at the intersection of 4100 F Street and Morrison when two men walked over and opened fire on the group.

At least one victim was shot in the leg and transported to the hospital, according to San Diego police.

Neighbors told us that victim was the son of the same man who was gunned down in the area on Tuesday.

Josefina Calva, a resident of Mt. Hope, heard the gunshots outside her window during the incident.

"We hear the shots again, it was boom, boom, boom, boom, boom," she said. "Then I told my kids lay down on the ground, lay down. And don't come out, don't look in the windows."

Authorities are still unsure whether Wednesday’s shooting is at all related to Tuesday’s shooting of 52-year-old Mt. Hope resident Waddell Littleton.

On March 24, a 14-year-old boy named Richie Cabrillo was also shot and killed in Mt. Hope, on Island Avenue near Market Street.

Police are still investigating whether the separate three shootings could be gang-related.

San Diego police don't have any suspects in custody in regards to this shooting. The only description investigators have at this point is that the alleged gunmen were two black males, wearing all black clothing and hoodies.

As of Thursday night, police said they're still searching for the gunmen.
