β€˜The Voices Told Me To'

A San Diego jury has decided that a woman was sane when she stabbed her 75-year-old mother to death during a card game in their apartment two years ago.

Tomasa Ramirez was found guilty of second-degree murder last Friday in the death of Mercedes Ramirez in February 2007.

A San Diego police officer testified that the defendant admitted killing her mother with a 5-inch knife, saying "the voices told me to."

Ramirez faces up to 16 years to life in state prison when she is sentenced next month.

She could have been sent to a mental hospital if the jury found she was insane at the time of the murder.
