Ten in Custody After Panga Boat Sighting

Several boat occupants attempted to flee

Lifeguards are investigating a Panga Boat found near the Ocean Beach Pier early Thursday morning.

The boat washed ashore just after 5 a.m. and several people attempted to flee after reaching the shore.

Ten of the individuals from the boat are now in custody.

Border Patrol Agents also responded to the scene. Inside the boat, they found several large jugs of gasoline.

Border Patrol cleared the boat from the shore shortly after the sighting.

This is the second Panga Boat to wash up on local shores. On Monday, a similar boat carrying Mexican nationals in the country illegally was found near Ponto Beach.
