Temecula Woman Killed in Crash

A Temecula woman was killed on Interstate 15 Sunday afternoon as a result of a car crash, authorities said.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the woman as 36-year-old Elvira Yduarte.

Yduarte was the back-seat passenger of a truck traveling north on I-15 near Gopher Canyon Road at about 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 61-year-old driver of the car lost control and rolled five to six times down an embankment and onto an boulder. The front seat and back seat passengers were both ejected. The front seat passenger, a 61-year-old female sustained moderate injuries.

Yduarte, the back-seat passenger, was pronounced dead on the scene. CHP officials told NBC 7 that she was the driver's daughter.

Heavy rain was a factor in the accident, CHP told NBC 7.

It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were involved.
