Senior Prank Involved Dismembered Squirrel: Cops

Some of those students accused may be barred from senior activities like prom or grad night

Seventeen Temecula Valley High School students are being punished this week for vandalism that included racist graffiti, a dismembered squirrel, glued lockers and a bleached sports field.

Riverside County sheriff's Lt. Greg Norton tells The Riverside Press-Enterprise that some students have been suspended and some may be barred from senior activities like the prom and grad night.

The graffiti was found March 29, the day before spring break. There had been social media chatter of a senior prank involving yarn.

District spokeswoman Melanie Norton says yarn and fishing wire were stretched low across doors and walkways all over campus. No injuries were reported.

The squirrel's body parts were strung across campus. Authorities want to know if it was killed or found dead.

Involved students were identified by classmates.
