A street racing collision in Vista early Monday injured six people including a teenager who was hospitalized in critical condition, officials said.
Alcohol and street racing were both factors in a collision at 12:30 a.m. in Vista, San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputies said.
The driver of a black Ford Focus lost control and drove over a concrete median near East Bobier Drive and Heidi Circle, just south of Vista High School. The vehicle collided head-on into a white Mercedes C300, deputies said.
The Ford had been racing another vehicle and was traveling between 90 and 100 miles per hour, one witness told deputies.
One person riding inside the Ford ran from the scene. Three others were trapped inside the vehicle that had rolled over on its side.
Of the three injured, one was airlifted to Sharp Hospital in Kearny Mesa.
Two people in the Mercedes were taken to a nearby hospital. No details were given on the extent of their injuries.

Shayla Diaz lives near the site of the crash and said she heard a load boom at the time of the crash.
Diaz said drivers often race down the hill at very high speeds.
For her, the danger is so real that she uses her heavy duty pickup as a barrier to protect her family.
"That's why I always park my truck like that because I'm afraid someone's going to hit my house," Diaz told NBC 7. "My kids sleep on this side of the house."
