Teen Skateboarder Victim of Hit-and-Run

The sheriff's department is looking for a hit-and-run driver who hit a skateboarder.

Deputy Sheriff Dwain Washington said several witnesses called 911 around 9:30 p.m. Monday after the 15-year-old on a skateboard was struck at the intersection of East Vista Way and Arcadia Avenue in Vista.

Investigators are looking for a dark colored SUV, which was last seen traveling south on E.Vista Way.

The young victim was left unconscious and suffered extensive head injuries. He was flown by air helicopter to Palomar Hospital, accompanied by his father (the teen lived close to the crash scene). The boy's condition is unknown.

The sheriffs department is urging anyone with information on the driver or the car to come forward.
