Hang Glider Rescued from La Jolla Cliffs

A hang glider was rescued from the cliffs below La Jolla's Glider Port Monday afternoon.

Authorities from the San Diego Fire Department said the man needed to be rescued about 20 to 30 feet down from the glider port take-off.

According to officials on the scene, the man was hang gliding when he believed something had gone wrong and tried to turn around. Instead, he crashed into the cliff.

He was transported to the hospital for his injuries.

Ed. Note: SDFD spokesperson previously reported that a 15-year-old was injured. They later modified their report to reflect the man's age.
