Task Force Raids Smoke Shop

After repeated warnings to stop selling drug paraphernalia, the San Diego Sheriff's Department and Meth Task Force put a Lemon Grove store out of business.

Detectives had to enter the Big Time Smoke Shop by force.  According to Sgt. Jeff Maxim, the owner, identified as Alvy Mikhael, was arrested on suspicion of selling illegal items at his store.  They included glass smoking pipes, which Maxim said are used to smoke marijuana and methamphetamine.

A judge had granted a warrant for deputies to search the shop after the owner allegedly refused to comply with orders to stop selling the alleged meth use items.

The bust is part of a countywide operation that began five months ago.

Maxim said the owner faces six months in jail
