TSA Reduces Pat-downs on Kids

The TSA decreases some of its security measures

As the terminals at Lindbergh Field fill with people flying to Thanksgiving celebrations, families will experience some changes at the security line.

The TSA is decreasing a few measures for children 12 and under. They will no longer have to take off their shoes and will not be targeted for security pat-downs.

The change happened recently, but the TSA is getting the word out to educate people who don't travel as often and will be flying for Thanksgiving.

β€œWe're getting pretty good at what we do. We know what to expect from Christmas to Christmas, Thanksgiving to Thanksgiving. We have the appropriate staff. We have the appropriate tools in place and we're constantly trying to make the process better,” said TSA spokesperson Nico Melendez.

If you’re picking people up this week, Melendez reminds you that there is a cell phone lot on the eastside of the airport.
