‘Suspicious' Vista Taco Shop Fire May Be Cover-up: Police

Door of Main St.’s Juanita’s Taco Shop left ajar

A fire that caused extensive damage to a popular Vista taco shop early Wednesday morning is under investigation by sheriff’s arson and bomb units.

The fire broke out at 4:30 a.m. at Juanita’s Taco Shop on 248 Main St., according to an official with the Vista Fire Department.

The door to the taco shop was left ajar, which led authorities to believe the fire was “suspicious” in nature. They believe it may have been used to cover up another crime inside the taco shop.

Sheriffs are still investigating the scene to determine the cause of the fire and whether any other crimes were committed.

Nearly 30 firefighters responded to the fire, which caused extensive damage to the inside of the building.
