Suspect in Encanto Homicide Not Charged: DA

He is suspected of allegedly stabbing 44-year old Robert Acevedo of Lemon Grove.

The man once accused of stabbing a Lemon Grove man to death in Encanto will not be charged in connection with the crime, the San Diego County District Attorney's office announced Thursday.

The 20-year-old suspect turned himself in to authorities Monday in connection with the homicide, San Diego Police said. However, the DA will not file criminal charges against the 20-year-old suspect.

The man's attorney told NBC 7 spoke with investigators after his client was taken into custody and presented his case to the DA's office. The DA's office elected not to file murder charges, according to Vikas Bajaj, the suspect's attorney.

Bajaj said he could not go into specifics because the case is still under investigation.

The suspect is accused of stabbing 44-year-old Robert Acevedo of Lemon Grove. Officers found Acevedo early Sunday morning after a witness reported the stabbing to police.

SDPD officers are not pursuing any further suspects in the case, SDPD Homicide Lt. Manny Del Toro said.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to call the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
