A suspect led officers on a slow speed chase in East County Tuesday according to El Cajon police.
The pursuit started at approximately 5:52 p.m. when a police officer was making a stop for a traffic violation at 200 N. Second Street.
After failing to yield the suspect led officers onto I-8 Eastbound where he threw a shotgun out of the window at the Second Street onramp.
The suspect got out of the car at Los Coches and Calle de Buena Fe around 7:57 p.m. He was caught a few houses away and taken to the hospital for shortness of breath.
He will be booked into jail after being released from the hospital.
