Suspect Steals Candy Bars, Threatens 7-Eleven Clerk in San Ysidro:Police

A man accused of stealing candy bars and pulling a knife on a clerk inside a 7-Eleven gas station in San Ysidro Tuesday was arrested, police said.

The armed robbery happened at approximately 3:45 p.m. on the 644 block of E San Ysidro Boulevard near the Interstate 805, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).

SDPD says a clerk told the suspect to return the candy bars but the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the clerk. The suspect then fled and the clerk followed him to a 99 Cents store on Border Village Road.

Police told the clerk on the phone to return to the 7-Eleven for safety reasons.

The suspect was arrested at the store.
