Police are trying to identify a suspect wanted for sexual assault and robbery and are asking the public for help.
On March 26, at about 10:20 a.m., the suspect pretended he was a customer and robbed the Healthy Back Store on University Avenue in Hillcrest using a knife, investigators said.
A 26-year-old female manager was working alone at the time. Investigators said he grabbed the woman, forcing her into a backroom and sexually assaulted her.

Employees said the suspect told the victim he “was going to kill her if she called the cops.”
The suspect is described as black, 20-24 years old, approximately 6'-6'4" tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black beanie, brown jacket, white t-shirt, and long black shorts.
“We are hoping someone recognizes this individual. It's a strong likelihood that this isn't the first robbery he's committed and we would like to get him in custody before it continues,” Officer Jim Johnson said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the identity and or location of the person responsible for this crime to call the SDPD robbery unit at (619) 531-2299 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in this case.
