Suspect Breaks Into Fire Station, Takes Ambulance Keys: Officials

Officials report incident happened at about 6:40 a.m. at the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District Station 2

A suspect broke into the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District Station 2 Friday morning, taking keys to an ambulance and a pager, according to RSFFPD officials.

The unidentified suspect entered the station and headed to a dorm room assigned to a San Diego Medical Services paramedic at about 6:40 a.m., according to a media release.

The suspect reportedly took keys assigned to one of the station’s ambulances as well as an ambulance pager.

“We are taking this incident very seriously,” said Battalion Chief Mike Gibbs. “The safety of the community and our personnel is our priority.”

A second ambulance was moved to the station in order to make sure service was not interrupted.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s department is cooperating with station officials to investigate the incident.
