Local Supporters Gather for ‘Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day'

Crowds gathered at a Carmel Mountain Chick-fil-A Wednesday in support of the controversial fast food chain

Rows of cars and lines of people wrapped around the Chick-fil-A restaurant in Carmel Mountain Wednesday evening, showing their support for the controversial fast food chain.

Chick-fil-A recently came under fire after the company’s CEO, Dan Cathy, publicly stated that he opposes gay marriage in an interview with the Baptist press.

On Wednesday, some conservative politicians declared the day “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” and encouraged fans of the company to show their support by visiting local Chick-fil-A restaurants.

In addition to the Carmel Mountain location, there was also a long line around lunch time at the restaurant on Sports Arena Boulevard.

On the other end of the heated controversy, gay rights supporters have called for a Chick-fil-A boycott and are planning upcoming protests of their own.

A boycott took place just last week at the grand opening of a  Laguna Hills Chick-fil-A .
