College students banged on the door of a burning home in Point Loma Saturday morning and helped the woman inside escape the flames.
Two students from Point Loma Nazarene University spotted the fire around 1:30 a.m. across the street from their house at La Cresta and La Wawona.
They immediately called 911, ran to the home, knocked on the door and even tried the yard hose but the hose wasn’t working.
The woman inside woke up and got out of the house in time along with her five dogs.
According to San Diego firefighters, the fire started in the garage and burned into the attic and roof area.
