Student Arrested After Kids Sickened at Mira Mesa HS

A local high school student is under arrest, accused of giving his classmates pills that made them violently ill.

Four Mira Mesa High School freshmen were taken to the hospital Tuesday after they started vomiting and complaining of dizziness. Firefighters were called to the campus on Reagan Road, near Mira Mesa Boulevard, just after 1 p.m.

The students claimed they had ingested an unknown drug given to them by a classmate. San Diego Unified School Police arrested the 15-year old student Tuesday night.

Police still haven't identified the drug or drugs involved.

The suspect was booked into Juvenile Hall. Police say his source was a non-student -- not affiliated with Mira Mesa High or any other school. They're following that information up the chain of distribution.

They also stress that this seems to be an isolated situation.

According to investigators, the 15-year old they have in custody claims this was his first go-round as a dealer. He wanted to show his supplier that he could handle his business. But things blew up.
