String of Vehicle Thefts Hits Santee

The city of Santee has seen what officials call an “uptick” in vehicle thefts over the last two weeks.

Five vehicles have been stolen in Santee since September 15; one motorcycle, one trailer and three cars, according to Sargent Chris Galve of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Four of the thefts were by forced entry, and one of the vehicles was stolen after the keys were left in the door. One theft occurred about a quarter-mile west of Graves Avenue, and the other four were all near the 8200 block of Graves Avenue.

The Santee Sheriff’s station has yet to identify a suspect or persons of interest. The station is still investigating, but said that all station detectives have been deployed to El Cajon to assist other departments.
