Stennis Leaving San Diego

The aircraft carrier John C. Stennis and three ships in its strike group will leave San Diego Saturday on a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific.

The Navy says the Bremerton, Wash.-based Stennis will be joined by the San Diego-based guided-missile cruiser Antietam and destroyers Kidd and Preble.

The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier left Bremerton Tuesday before stopping in San Diego to load personnel and equipment.
