Sobbing Suspect: “Tell Mom I'm Sorry”

Police escorted a weeping hit and run suspect out of a Pacific Beach apartment complex Sunday.

Police cruisers and Able helicopter were searching the Pacific Beach neighborhood Sunday afternoon after the suspect allegedly crashed into a house and several parked cars at 3617 Ingraham St., then took off on foot.

Police said he then broke into an apartment on the 3700 block of Jewell Street.  They say the man put on clothes belonging to the resident of that apartment and tried to leave the building.  That's when officers arrested him just before 1p.m.

Police identified the man as 30 year old Cory Johnson.

While handcuffed, and being walked out of the house Johnson said to a woman on the scene, "Tell Mom I'm sorry."
