Smoking Banned at Palomar College

The campus will be smoke-free environment

Palomar College has banned smoking from its campus, reports our media partner North County Times.

The Palomar College governing board banned tobacco from its premises on Tuesday after years of student efforts to make the campus smoke-free.

Effective immediately, students or school employees will not be allowed to smoke anywhere on campus. Signs will be posted from now until fall semester warning students of the new ban.

MiraCosta College recently agreed to forbid smoking on its three campuses. The ban begins Aug. 22.
A 2006 survey of nearly 700 students indicated that 60 percent of Palomar students supported restricting or banning smoking.
