Slashing Paid Holidays?

Several public agencies are taking a closer look at reducing the number of paid days off as officials grapple with budget gaps, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

One potential result could be some government workers wouldn't get paid for certain days off, like the day after Thanksgiving. 

The city of San Diego operates a voluntary work furlough program, which allows employees to take days off without pay. More than 1,500 are partaking this year, most during the holiday season, saving the city about $2 million, the paper reported.
